For the first time in months, the most popular free app from the App Store at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is not Candy Crush Saga. The honor in June goes to Despicable Me: Minion Rush. This past weekend, the second “Despicable Me” movie absolutely blasted the competition in ticket sales, raking in more than $142 million of total U.S. box office receipts of more than $293 million.

The only non-game app in the top five downloads from the Apple App Store was Vine, which allows users to load short videos to Twitter posts. The data was compiled by analytics firm Distimo.

At Google Inc.’s (NASDAQ: GOOG) Google Play store, the most downloaded free app was the mobile version of Facebook, followed by WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Skype.

This month for the first time Distimo also reported downloads from Amazon.com Inc.’s (NASDAQ: AMZN) App Store. All five top free downloads were games, led by Crazy Dentist and the Kindle version of Tetris.

There was no change at the top in the paid downloads. WhatsApp led at Apple’s App Store, while SwiftKey Keyboard led at Google Play. At Amazon’s App Store, the leading paid download was Minecraft.

The top revenue-generating app at Apple was Candy Crush, followed by Clash of Clans, which was introduced in Japan in late June and appears to have tripled its revenue for gamemaker Supercell. At Google Play, the top revenue-generating app was Puzzles & Dragons. Data was not reported for Amazon’s App Store.
