GM Losing Significant Ground To Ford (F)

gmFord’s (F) July sales rose 2.3% to to 165,279. SUV sales were weak, off 36%, so cars and crossovers had to make up for that.

GM’s sales moved sharply in another direction. They fell 19% to 189,443. Without sales from brands that are being phased out, particularly Pontiac, Ford would have been very close to besting GM in total units sold domestically, which has happened since the early part of the 20th Century.
