Rolls-Royce to Build 35 Extra-Special 'Silver Ghost' Cars

Rolls-Royce

Legendary British automaker Rolls-Royce builds more jet engines in a month than it will build of a special anniversary collection of its 2018 Ghost models to celebrate the company’s original Silver Ghost, first built in 1907. The 35 made-to-order cars come with unique touches that set the Silver Ghost apart from the standard Ghost model.

For example, a solid sterling-silver hood ornament, known as the “Spirit of Ecstacy,” along with special badging, pure silver particles infused into the hand-painted coachline, and a special paint color called “Cassiopeia Silver.”

CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös commented:

The extraordinary accomplishments of our marque’s founding fathers are honoured by the creation of this elegant ‘Silver Ghost Collection’. The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective masterfully weave the rich narrative of the original ‘Silver Ghost’ into just 35 motor cars, creating a contemporary homage to the original motor car. Today, our craftspeople and master artisans continue this legacy of excellence, creating unique motor cars that define luxury.

The car’s interior features a special “Forest Green” leather, similar to the leather color in the original Silver Ghost. And the vehicle also will include the company’s most technologically advanced multimedia entertainment system. A totally new multimedia interface and larger screens for the rear passengers are now voice-controlled. Rolls-Royce also boosted the Silver Ghost’s navigation system with improved Real Time Traffic Information for 32 countries.

And like all Rolls-Royce cars, if you have ask the price, you probably can’t afford one. The company, of course, did not mention price. But a 2018 Ghost sells for $312,000 to $345,000. A special edition Silver Ghost likely will be well north of that range.
