11 New Leveraged & Inverse Leveraged ETF/ETN From iPath (BCS, ROLA, ROSA, RTLA, RTSA, SFLA, SFSA, MFLA, MFSA, EMLB, EMSA, VZZ, BLK)

Yesterday marked the launch of many new exchange traded funds, which are actually exchange traded notes, geared to offer more leverage and inverse leverage on several index classes for equity investors.  Barclays Bank PLC (NYSE: BCS) launched 11 new ETN products via its iPath ETN series.  The ETNs offer both long and short leveraged exposure to index provider indices from S&P, Russell and MSCI. The new iPath ETNs are:

iPath® Long Extended Russell 1000® TR Index ETN (NYSE: ROLA)… triple leverage (3X) of Russell 1000.

iPath® Short Extended Russell 1000® TR Index ETN (NYSE: ROSA) triple inverse leverage (-3X) of Russell 1000.

iPath® Long Extended Russell 2000® TR Index ETN (NYSE: RTLA) triple leverage (3X) of Russell 2000.

iPath® Short Extended Russell 2000® TR Index ETN (NYSE: RTSA) triple inverse leverage (-3X) of Russell 2000.

iPath® Long Extended S&P 500® TR Index ETN (NYSE: SFLA) triple leverage (3X) of S&P 500.

iPath® Short Extended S&P 500® TR Index ETN (NYSE: SFSA) triple inverse leverage (-3X) of S&P 500.

iPath® Long Enhanced MSCI EAFE® Index ETN (NYSE: MFLA) double leverage (2X) MSCI EAFE.

iPath® Short Enhanced MSCI EAFE® Index ETN (NYSE: MFSA) double inverse leverage (-2X) MSCI EAFE.

iPath® Long Enhanced MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETN (NYSE: EMLB) double leverage (2X) MSCI Emerging Markets.

iPath® Short Enhanced MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETN (NYSE: EMSA) double inverse leverage (-2X) MSCI Emerging Markets.

iPath® Long Enhanced S&P 500 VIX Mid-Term FuturesTM ETN (NYSE: VZZ) double leverage (2X) S&P 500 VIX Mid-Term Futures Index.

iPath ETNs are senior, unsecured, unsubordinated debt securities issued by Barclays Bank PLC.  The broker affiliate of BlackRock (NYSE: BLK), BlackRock Fund Distribution Company, is promoting iPath ETNs to intermediaries.

Direxion and other leveraged ETF and ETN families just got more competition.
