General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) announced six recalls totaling 717,950 recent model vehicles Wednesday, just a day before the company is scheduled to announce second quarter 2014 earnings. The company did not provide an estimate for any charges related to the recalls.

Of the six different recalls, the largest includes 414,333 2011-2012 model year Chevrolet Camaro; 2010-2012 model year Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain; 2011-2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse; and 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX models in the U.S. that may have a faulty seat height adjuster on the driver or front-passenger seat. The company said it is aware of one crash and three injuries related to a bolt that may fall out and cause the seat to move freely. The company said the cars are safe to drive but owners should now use the seat height adjuster until a replacement bolt is installed by the dealer.

In a second recall, 124,008 model year 2014 Chevrolet Caprice, 2014 Chevrolet SS, 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado LD and HD, 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS, 2014 Cadillac CTS, 2014 Cadillac ELR; 2013-2014 Buick Encore; and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra LD and HD vehicles may have a bad weld on the seat hook bracket assembly. Dealers will inspect the weld on recalled vehicles and replace the bracket on those that are insufficient. GM expects the number of bad welds to be less than 1% of the total. The company knows of no complaints or crashes related to this defect.

Another 120,426 model year 2011-2013 Buick Regal and 2013 model year Chevrolet Malibus have a faulty turn signal control module that can be fixed by reprogramming. GM said it has received no complaints or crash reports related to this defect.

A total of 57,242 model-year 2014 Chevy Impalas equipped with belt-drive power steering may have reduced or no power steering due to a poor electrical ground connection in the power steering control module. The company is aware of one crash and no injuries related to this defect.

Another 1,919 model year 2014-2015 Chevy Sparks have a poorly installed bolt on the car’s front suspension. No crashes or complaints have been reported due to this defect according to GM.

Finally, 22 model year 2015 Chevy Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon/Yukon Denali vehicles may have had their roof racks installed using the wrong retaining nuts. This could cause holes or tears in the roof rail air bags. Only 8 vehicles with this problem have arrived at dealers so far, and they will be repaired before being sold.

GM’s almost maniacal recent focus on safety has paid dividends to the company.The company has been able to maintain good sales numbers even in the face of more than 25 million recalled vehicles.
