Tyson Foods Inc. (NYSE: TSN) has recalled more than 75,000 pounds of chicken nuggets after some customers complained of finding bits of plastic in their food. The recall includes 5-pound bags of frozen nuggets sold at Sam’s Club warehouse stores owned by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT).

According to the recall notice posted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), a product called “Spare Time Fully Cooked Nugget-Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters w/Rib Meat” is also being recalled. The “nugget-shaped” food is sold in 20-pound bulk packs for institutional use in Indiana and Arkansas.

The USDA said that the customer complaints were valid and have been traced to “a product scraper inside a blending machine.” Tyson received complaints of “minor oral injury” associated with the nuggets, and the USDA said that anyone worried about injury or illness should consult a healthcare provider.

The USDA classified the recall as a Class II incident, which means that it is “a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product.”

In February, a California supplier of beef recalled 8.7 million pounds of products in a Class I recall “because it processed diseased and unsound animals and carried out these activities without the benefit or full benefit of federal inspection.”
