Marijuana Price Ticks Up to $1,615 a Pound

For the week ended Friday, December 30, the spot price index for a pound of cannabis increased by 0.2% from $1,613 in the prior week to $1,615. According to the analysts at Cannabis Benchmarks, the simple average price for a gram increased from $3.85 to $4.04.
The futures price for the near month (January) rose from $1,575 to $1,600. For the month of February, the forward price also rose by $25 a pound to $1,625. The six-month forward price (June) remained unchanged at $1,725 a pound.
About two-thirds of the past week’s transactions occurred in a range of $1,315 to $2,352 per pound.

The U.S. Spot Index held largely steady this week, rising marginally to settle at $1,615 per pound. Rates for flower cultivated in warehouses and out in the open were both up, by almost 3% and 5%, respectively, compared to last week. In doing so, national-level prices for indoor product approached $2,000 per pound, a level not attained since July 29th. Pricing for greenhouse flower declined slightly, but still settled above the $1,600 per pound threshold. … The U.S. Spot Index started December 2015 at $1,734 per pound, and closed the year at $2,001 per pound. Similarly, but not as dramatically, the U.S. Spot Index started December 2016 at $1,442 per pound, and closed the year at $1,615.
Indoor flower prices ranged from $900 to $3,200 per pound, with the median price at $1,850. Greenhouse flower prices ranged from $1,225 to $2,600 per pound and the median price was $1,700. Outdoor flower prices ranged from $700 to $2,300 per pound; the median price was $1,300.
Our price check at MJCharts indicates prices range from $27.19 a gram to a low of $3.50 in the all-cities index. The all-cities index price is $12.15 per gram, unchanged compared with the prior week. The overall average price for a gram of marijuana (all strains) in Colorado is currently $11.43, ranging from a high of $25.00 a gram to a low of $3.50. In California the average price is $15.40 per gram, ranging from $27.19 down to $5.00 per gram, while in Michigan the average price is $13.66 per gram in a range of $25.00 to $5.00. In Oregon the average is $11.13 per gram in a range of $20.00 to $4.00, and in Washington the average is $10.61 per gram, ranging from a high of $17.00 to a low of $4.00.
