Research firm IDC has named the top PC makers for the second quarter of 2012. The top 5 global makers are:
- Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ), 13.4 million units shipped, 15.5% market share
- Lenovo Group Ltd., 12.9 million units, 14.9% share
- Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL), 9.6 million units, 11.1% share
- Acer Group, 9 million units, 10.4% share
- AsusTek Computer Inc., 6.1 million units, 7.1% share
- All others, 35.6 million units, 41.1% share
Total global shipments numbered 86.7 million units.
In the U.S. market the top 5 PC makers are:
- Hewlett-Packard, 4.1 million units shipped, 25.9% market share
- Dell, 3.6 million units, 22.5%
- Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL), 1.8 million units, 11.4% share
- Lenovo, 1.28 million units, 8% share
- Acer Group, 1.25 million units, 7.9% share
- All other, 3.9 million units, 24.4% share
Total U.S. shipments numbered 15.9 million units.
