Top Choice for Black Friday Electronics Deals: Best Buy

Wikimedia Commons

Among U.S. consumers planning to hit the stores on Black Friday, half said that they plan to make a stop at Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE: BBY). The store was ranked fourth behind Amazon (68%), Wal-Mart (64%), and Target (57%).

The interesting thing about Best Buy’s ranking is that compared to the three stores ahead of it, it offers a fairly limited inventory. Consumer electronics gear — TVs, game consoles, laptops, smartphones — and appliances remain Best Buy’s bread and butter. That means they have to make a lot more effort to get their share.

According to a recent report at BestBlackFriday.com, Best Buy is offering 5 of the 10 top deals for this Black Friday’s shopping extravaganza. Wal-Mart and Target placed 2 deals each in the top 10 and Dell claimed the other spot on the list.

The top-ranked deal was Best Buy’s sale on a Toshiba 49-inch LED 2160p HDTV with built in Chromecast (model #49L621U) for $199.99, a savings of $250 from the regular price of $449.99. The catch is that the offer is good only in stores and that quantities may be limited. But if you’re looking for a big screen TV at a rock-bottom price, this is the deal.

Dell is selling an Xbox One S 500GB bundle including a game controller and two games, Battlefield 1 and Gears of War 4, for $249.99 (part #KT-XB1BFGW-DELL), a savings of $170 from the regular price $419.99. This is a doorbuster item that is sold exclusively online beginning at 9 p.m. ET on Thanksgiving evening.

Target’s offer on a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge smartphone includes a $250 Target gift card, a Samsung Gear VR headset, and a $50 Oculus content pack regularly valued at $149.99. The price of the phones varies and the offer is valid when you activate the account. A 32GB S7 Edge sells for $792, or 24 months at $33 a month.

Best Buy is offering a similar deal on an iPhone 7. Customers get a $250 gift card when they sign an installment billing agreement with either Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint.

The fifth-best deal is Best Buy’s offer of a Microsoft 12.3-inch Surface Pro with cover (model #DQS-00001) for $599.99, a savings of $400 from the regular price of $999.99. This computer is available online and standard shipping is free.
