For the week ended Friday, December 23, the spot price index for a pound of cannabis increased by 10.1% from $1,465 in the prior week to $1,613. According to the analysts at Cannabis Benchmarks, the simple average price for a gram decreased from $3.89 to $3.85.
The futures price for the near month (January) remained unchanged at $1,575. For the month of February, the forward price also remained the same at $1,600 a pound. The six-month forward price (June) also remained unchanged at $1,725 a pound.
About two-thirds of the past week’s transactions occurred in a range of $1,208 to $2,286 per pound.

With the end-of-year holiday season upon us, this week saw the U.S. Spot Index jump just over 10% to exceed the $1,600 per pound threshold. Volume-weighted average rates for each individual grow type rose by similar proportions, likely reflecting increased holiday demand. Pricing for greenhouse product virtually matched the national composite rate, while prices for flower cultivated under artificial light approached $1,950 per pound on average.
Indoor flower prices ranged from $851 to $3,100 per pound, while the median price was $1,850. Greenhouse flower prices ranged from $1,000 to $2,600 per pound, with a median price of $1,700. Outdoor flower prices ranged from $700 to $1,800 per pound; the median price was $1,300.

The all-cities index price is $12.15 per gram, up a penny compared with the prior week. The overall average price for a gram of marijuana (all strains) in Colorado is currently $11.43, ranging from a high of $25.00 a gram to a low of $3.50. In California the average price is $15.39 per gram, ranging from $27.19 down to $5.00 per gram, while in Michigan the average price is $13.68 per gram in a range of $25.00 to $5.00. In Oregon the average is $11.13 per gram in a range of $20.00 to $4.00, and in Washington the average is $10.61 per gram, ranging from a high of $17.00 to a low of $4.00.
