Spain’s statistics bureau, the INE, reported that unemployment was 26.02% for the fourth quarter of 2013. The figure is a terrible reminder that some nations within the European Union may have recovered from the recession, based on gross domestic product, but the recovery is in name only.
The agency reported:
The number of unemployed decreased by 8,400 people in the quarter and stood at 5,896,300 . The unemployment rate rose five-hundredths to 26.03% . The total number of unemployed has decreased by 69,000 people a year . For the first time since second quarter of 2007, an annual decline in unemployment occurs.
