Harvard’s endowment rose slightly to $36.5 billion in the fiscal year that ended last June. Its figure improved 1.6%. Yale’s endowment rose 7% but trailed Harvard’s by a mile, with a total value of $25.7 billion.

The third major university among the Ivy League members, Princeton, had its endowment rise 8.2% to $22.7 billion, which left it behind number three, the University of Texas System, which posted a sharp drop of 5.3% to $24.1 billion. The top of the list was rounded out by Stanford at $22.2 billion, up 3.6%, and MIT with an endowment of $13.4 billion, up 8.4%.

All the institutions on the list are ranked near the top of most research evaluations of educational quality, both at the undergraduate level and in their graduate programs. Harvard’s law, business and medical graduate programs are considered among the best in the world.
