First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLR) posted earnings of $1.61 EPS on revenue of $433.7 million. Thomson Reuters (First Call) estimates were $1.30 EPS on $410.4 million in revenues.
As far as guidance, the company said it will discuss this later in the conference call. The consensus estimate for Q1-2009 is $1.39 EPS on $407.06 million in revenue. For 2009, the consensus estimate is $7.00 EPS on $1.98 billion in revenue.
So far, this is a much better report than what we and others expected. Shares closed up 10% at $137.68. They were above $142.00 after the earnings report.
As a reminder, until the company gives guidance, this is considered unfinished business.
