Asia Markets 1/4/2007 Hitachi, NEC Up, Toyota, China Mobile Down

Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei up sharply and the Hang Seng down almost 2%.

The Nikkei rose .7% to 17,354. Bridgestone was down .4% to 2645. Canon was off .4% to 6670. Daiwa Securities was up 1.1% to 1350. Fuji Film was down .8% to 4850. Hitachi was up 6.1% to 787. Honda was up .9% to 4740. Japan Tobacco was up 3.3% to 594000. NEC was up 3.3% to 588. NTT was up 3.9% to 609000. Docomo was up 2.1% to 292000. Softbank was up 5.4% to 2440. Sony was up 1.8% to 5190. Toshiba was up 2.6% to 795. Toyota was down 1.3% to 8090. Yahoo Japan was up 4% to 49300.

The Hang Seng was off 1.9% to 20,026. Cathy Pacific was up 1% to 18.82. China Mobile was down 3.4% to 68.2. China Unicom was up 1.8% to 11.6. China Netcom was down 2.8% to 20.7. HSBC was down .6% to 143.8. PCCW was down .6% to 4.8.

The KOSPI was down .9% to 1,397.

The Straits Times was down .5% to 3,024.

The Shanghai Composite was up 1.6% to 2,716.
