Barron’s mentions a rumor from tech industry journal TMCNet. Google (GOOG) will buy Sprint (S).
Sprint has a market cap of $46 billion, so it is possible.
It would get Google the Sprint national WiMax high-speed broadband platform. Google might have to help fund it, but, once finished, it would be set up with a perfect competitor to the Verizon Wireless and AT&T (T) 3G networks.
It would also give Google access to 50 million Sprint wireless customers. All of them could download the new Google handset software and the search company would sell advertising on every phone.
Right.
