If you’re anywhere near Ft. Lauderdale on February 17th, you might want to check out the town hall meeting featuring T. Boone Pickens and Mike Jackson, who is CEO of AutoNation Inc. (NYQ:AN). The two are hosting the meeting "to discuss America’s current and future energy situation."
Both men have solid roots in the petroleum era, but have lately beenpromoting the advantages to lowering US dependence on oil. Pickensadvocates immediate development of new wind and solar renewablesources, and Jackson has supported an increased gas tax as well asplug-in hybrid vehicles.
Wonder if they’ll talk about the viability of auto dealerships as weknow them? Maybethey could launch a nationwide tour, with Bruce Springsteen as theopening act. "Baby, we were born to run….."
Pickens has already hit the road with The Pickens Plan. He has been inWashington, and he has spoken with the President and many others overhow to strike a future energy policy. Pickensplan.org lists nearly 1.4 million members. Expect more of these meetings.
