Short Sellers Increase Bets Against Apple (AAPL), Citigroup (C)

Short sellers sharply increased their bets against two of America’s most widely followed stocks.
Shares sold short in Citigroup (NYSE:C) rose 36% to 381 million. The short interest in Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) soared 34% to 15.6 million.
Among Nasdaq stocks, other significant changes included a 13% increase in shares sold short in Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) and 11% increase in the short interest in Qualcom (NASDAQ:QCOM).
The short interest in Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) fell 18% to 44.6 million. Shares short in RIM (NASDAQ:RIMM) dropped 35% to 14.6 million. The short interest in Starbucks was down 26%.
Among NYSE traded shares, short interest in Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) rose 103% to 55 million. The short interest in Ford (NYSE:F) was up 10%. Share short in AT&T (NYSE:T) were up 10%.
The short interest in Bristol-Myers (NYSE:BMY) dropped 44% to 77 million. Share short in Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) dropped 34% and the short interest in GE (NYSE:GE) was down 12%.
