A  federal jury ruled in favor of Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) in a copyright infringement case against SAP, according to a number of media reports. The sum of the award was $1.3 billion.

Oracle had asked for $1.7 billion.

The suit dates back to 2007, and the award could continue to be appealed which would mean the action could go on for several more years.
