Top Earnings Previews For The Week Ahead (C, HAL, GS, YHOO, IBM, JNJ, T, AXP, AAPL, AMGN, WFC, GE, DD, HON, MCD, SLB, LUV)

Next week may be short because of a holiday, but it is going to be a very busy week for earnings.  We have tried to narrow the field down to the very top earnings and given previews on each. There are almost 20 of these earnings and that is with us eliminating many key companies.  We have also added in basic trading color but we will be hitting each of these deeper as the actual earnings event gets closer.

We have covered the following: Citigroup, Inc. (NYSE: C); Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL); Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS); Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO); International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM); Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ); AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T); American Express Co. (NYSE: AXP); Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL); Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ: AMGN); Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC); General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE); DuPont (NYSE: DD); Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE: HON); McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE: MCD); Schlumberger NV (NYSE: SLB); and Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV).

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C) is due to report earnings Monday morning and the notion that Federal Reserve did not keep it from even that tiny dividend may have been clue enough that earnings are starting to get on the path to normalization.  “Mr. Vikram” and friends have a serious chart watch as the stock is at $4.41 and the 50-day moving average is $4.60 and the 200-day moving average is $4.35.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.09 EPS and $20.55 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.10 EPS and $20.58 billion in revenue.  As a reminder, that reverse split is coming next month.

Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL) is due Monday morning and Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.58 EPS and $4.9 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.69 EPS and $5.2 billion in revenue.  This is the first of the broader oil services and it will be interesting to see how the street treats these with oil so high.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) is one where we cannot see how the company can remain so solid in guidance due to the slowdown in PC sales and the Apple iPads not being a win for Intel. The call for an earnings warning has been out for over a week now.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.46 EPS and $11.6 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.45 EPS and $11.87 billion in revenue.  Shares are around $19.75 and the 52-week range is $17.60 to $24.37.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) is due Tuesday morning.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.82 EPS and $10.18 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $3.86 EPS and $10.1 billion in revenue.  Shares are close to $155 and the 52-week range is $129.50 to $186.40.

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) is due Tuesday afternoon and Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.16 EPS and $1.06 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.17 EPS and $1.10 billion in ex-TAC revenue. While it is stuck, investors want to know if the company will really unlock its international asset value.

International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) is due Tuesday after the close.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $2.30 EPS and $24.01 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $3.00 EPS and $25.06 billion in revenue.  At $165.85, the 52-week range is $116.00 to $167.72.

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) has had recall issues galore.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $1.26 EPS and $15.83 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $1.24 EPS and $16.13 billion in revenue.

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is due Wednesday morning.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.58 EPS and $31.23 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.60 EPS and $31.32 billion in revenue.  At $30.68, its 52-week range is $23.78 to $31.00 and it has a 5.6% yield.  Obviously the big question outside of the T-Mobile deal will be iPhone defections over to Verizon.

American Express Co. (NYSE: AXP) is due on Wednesday.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.92 EPS and $6.98 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.97 EPS and $7.32 billion in revenue.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is one we have been watching cautiously as the chart gets worse and worse and we plan to update our chart coverage over the weekend.  Earnings are due Wednesday after the close.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $5.35 EPS and $23.27 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $5.26 EPS and $23.82 billion in revenue.  At $330.60 late-Friday, the 52-week range is $199.25 to $364.90.

Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ: AMGN) is also due Wednesday.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $1.29 EPS and $3.67 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $1.30 EPS and $3.75 billion in revenue.

Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC) is due Wednesday morning.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.66 EPS and $21.24 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.69 EPS and $21.26 billion in revenue.

General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) is due on Thursday morning. Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.28 EPS and $34.6 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.33 EPS and $34.73 billion in revenue.  At $20.19, the 52-week range is $13.75 to $21.65.

DuPont (NYSE: DD) is due Thursday morning.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $1.36 EPS and $9.19 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $1.31 EPS and $9.36 billion in revenue.

Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE: HON) is due Thursday morning and Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.82 EPS and $8.62 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.94 EPS and $8.89 billion in revenue.

McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE: MCD) is tentatively due next Thursday. Thomson Reuters has estimates at $1.14 EPS and $5.99 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $1.25 EPS and $6.43 billion in revenue.

Schlumberger NV (NYSE: SLB) is due next Thursday morning.  Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.77 EPS and $8.85 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.90 EPS and $9.30 billion in revenue.

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) will be the first of the airlines and is due next Thursday. Thomson Reuters has estimates at $0.03 EPS and $3.08 billion in revenue; next quarter estimates are $0.28 EPS and $3.61 billion in revenue.
