Dow Jones reports that Fiat may be open to another merger. It recently bought additional shares in Chrysler and now owns 58.5%.

The head of Fiat SpA (F.MI) and Chrysler Group LLC Monday said he was open “in principle” to doing another merger after having orchestrated the one between the Italian and U.S. car makers.
Asked by a reporter at a roundtable if he would consider doing a merger with another automaker, Sergio Marchionne replied: “In principle, yes”.
He added, however, that he was only interested in talking with serious potential partners rather than “chasing pipe dreams.”
Marchionne may have to do with Chrysler’s own checkered past. It merged with Daimler Benz in the 198os only to have the marriage unravel in less than a decade because it was not possible to share production and development facilties effeciently
