It’s going to cost more to buy a new airplane from the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. (OTC: EADSY) — an average of 3.9% more. For customers of the company’s latest mid-size jets, the A320neo family, the price hike will be around 6%. The new pricing is somewhat higher than the list price for the latest 737 MAX offerings from Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA), which is Boeing’s answer to Airbus’s A320neo.
There are three models of each plane, with the Airbus A319neo and the 737 MAX 7 now listing at $88.8 million and $77.7 million, respectively. The Airbus A320neo and the 737 MAX 8 list for $96.7 million and $95.2 million, respectively. The Airbus A321neo and the 737 MAX 9 list for $113.3 million and $101.7 million, respectively.
Airbus said that the new pricing reflects the strong demand for the A320neo family of planes. It seems reasonable to predict that Boeing’s customers for the 737 MAX family of aircraft will be paying more as well, but the company has not made any announcement to that effect yet.
