Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ: RMBS) has just announced the signing of a patent license agreement with NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA). The press release shows that this agreement covers “the use of Rambus patented innovations in a broad range of integrated circuit (IC) products offered by NVIDIA. In addition, the two companies have settled all outstanding claims, including resolution of past use of Rambus’ patented innovations. The term of this agreement is five years; other details are confidential.”
A five-year pact, at a time when NVIDIA is trying to get deeper and deeper into smaller devices rather than just being thought of as a graphics card maker.
This settles the differences between the two companies and allows each company to move forward. This matters as Rambus shares are now up by a sharp level of 10% at $8.35 in the pre-market. The 52-week trading range is $4.00 to $22.20 and Rambus was worth some $831 million before this morning’s news pop.
