Verizon Wireless, the joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) and Vodafone Group plc (NASDAQ: VOD), has announced that its 4G LTE wireless network will now be available as an in-home network option that offers the blistering speed of the 4G network to a home network. Called HomeFusion, the program is being rolled out in three US cities: Dallas, Nashville, and Birmingham, Alabama, with other markets to follow.

Users will purchase an antenna and broadband router for $200 and pay a minimum of $60/month for 10 Gbytes of broadband data. The company says customers can connect 4 wired devices and at least 20 wireless devices to the in-home network. Verizon Wireless also claims that download speeds should fall in the range of 5-12 megabits/second, with upload speeds of 2-5 megabits/second.

The company claims that about 200 million Americans have access to its high-speed network. Unfortunately, in the vast swathes of low-population regions where this connectivity would be most welcome, the company’s 4G LTE is still not available. Maybe someday…
