Today's Market Winners and Losers

The broader stock market is mixed Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.07%, the Nasdaq up 0.28% and the S&P 500 up 0.01%. Today’s big winners include a health company settling a lawsuit and an energy company finding a large deposit of hydrocarbons. Meanwhile, sales misses caused our biggest losers to see shares tumble.

Here are Tuesday’s market winners and losers.

Biggest Winners

Shares of Accretive Health, Inc. (NYSE: AH) are up 34.77% to $13.49 on trading volume of 2.8 million shares. The company agreed to halt operations in Minnesota and pay a $2.5 million fine after the state’s attorney general alleged it employed overly aggressive collection tactics. The 52-week high is $31.24.

Shares of Cobalt International Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CIE) are up 17.64% to $28.41 on trading volume of 2.7 million shares. The oil explorer said a well in a reservoir offshore Angola had accumulated a large volume of hydrocarbons. The 52-week high is $36.51.

Biggest Losers

Shares of Dendreon Corp. (NASDAQ: DNDN) are down 21.93% to $4.83 on trading volume of 13.2 million shares. Second-quarter sales fell 2.5% from last year to $80 million. Before Tuesday, the 52-week low was $5.69.

Shares of Coach, Inc. (NYSE: COH) are down 16.09% to $50.83 on trading volume of 13.3 million shares. The 52-week low is $45.70. Sales totaled $1.16 billion in the fourth-quarter, missing analyst expectations of $1.2 billion. The 52-week low is $45.70
