Today's Market Winners and Losers

The stock market is up slightly Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.08%, the Nasdaq up 0.30% and the S&P 500 up 0.30%. Thursday’s winner includes an energy company getting bought out and a health care firm raising its profit outlook for the year. The only loser was a financial services company swinging to a second quarter loss.

Here are Thursday’s market winners and loser.

Biggest Winners

Shares of Robbins & Myers Inc. (NYSE: RBN) are up 27.05% to $59.47 on trading volume of 10.5 million shares. Oilfield equipment maker National Oilwell Varco Inc. (NYSE: NOV) will purchase Robbins & Myers for $2.54 billion in cash, or $60 a share. Before Thursday, the 52-week high was $53.50

Shares of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: MDRX) are up 17.81% to $11.31 on trading volume of 5.4 million shares. The company on Wednesday raised its full-year profit outlook to between 77 cents and 83 cents a share, up from 74 cents and 80 cents a share. The 52-week high is $21.66.

Biggest Loser

Shares of Doral Financial Corp. (NYSE: DRL) are down 26.10% to $1.08 on trading volume of 1.8 million shares. The company reported a second-quarter loss of $1.6 million, compared to the $2.6 million profit reported in the year-earlier period. The 52-week low is 56 cents.
