Wednesday has many key stocks out with news, and shares have been active in the after-hours trading session. 24/7 Wall St. has not tracked all of the moves, but we have tracked several of these that investors and traders alike will care about. We would remind readers, as always, that some of these stocks may change directions during Wednesday’s after-hours or even on Thursday morning. Included is a snippet of the news and how shares have reacted.
Conatus Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: CNAT) has taken a hit in the after-hours today dropping 12.6% to $6.80. This came on the heels of its second quarter results where it posted a net loss of $5.3 million. This biotech company closed the day on a positive note at $7.78 before the earnings hit.
Enphase Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENPH) had been moving higher on earnings news of late, but the solar microinverter maker announced a secondary stock offering by selling stockholders – and Enphase Energy will not receive any proceeds from the share sale. This had shares down close to 6% at $10.86 but on very thin trading volume.
The ExOne Company (NASDAQ: XONE) has had a rough day closing at 29.55 a loss of 2.35%. But the bad news isn’t over yet, in after-hours trading ExOne was down 8.6% to $27.00. The second quarter earnings were posted after the close potentially resulting in this slide. The revenue was reported at $11.2 million reading below Thomson Reuters consensus estimate of $12.1 million. This loss is a mixed message because guidance was given expecting annual revenue for 2014 to grow 40% to 50%.
Noodles & Company (NASDAQ: NDLS) closed down 0.5% at $25.21 ahead of earnings. unfortunately, that was nothing compared to later. Comparable restaurant sales decreased 0.6% for company-owned restaurants, 1.2% for franchise restaurants and 0.7% system-wide, unadjusted for Easter – but its adjusted net income fell 7.5% to $3.7 million and earnings per diluted share fell to $0.12 from $0.13. Noodles & company shares were down as much as 20% at $25.21 on over 275,000 shares within 50 minutes after the close of trading.
Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (NYSE: PBR), or Petrobras, had a very strange day as Brazilian stocks slid on news that one of the rival presidential election candidates dies in a plane crash. The stock fell 4.4% in normal trading to $15.46 on Wednesday, and the after-hours session had shares down less than 0.5%. We would point out that NYSE trading quotes had its preferred stock up 2.5% on fairly thin volume. Stay tuned for Thursday on confirming the after-hours trading direction.
Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corporation (NASDAQ:TKMR) was halted after the close for a corporate update that included its report of another loss, royalty payments, and an update on its clinical hold of the ebola drug. This was halted until 5:00 p.m. After the stock reopened, active trading had shares down over 2% at $18.15.
Vipshop Holdings Limited (NYSE: VIPS) had sales north of $829 million and revenues for the next quarter were put in a range of $850 to $860 million, both above estimates. Still, shares slid after the close on Wednesday. After closing up 4.3% at $229.18, but the stock was down 6.7% at $213.75 in active trading of over 300,000 since the close.
