The 52-Week Low Club for Wednesday

September 17, 2014: The following stocks are among the 74 equities making new 52-week lows today:

Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN) dropped about 5% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $2.83. Share volume is about 60% below the daily average of around 230,000. The stock’s 52-week high is $6.60. The company, which makes computer storage products, had no news today.

Noble Corp. (NYSE: NE) sank to a new 52-week low on Tuesday of $24.68. Based on Tuesday night’s closing price of $25.44 that’s a drop of about 3%. The stock’s 52-week high is $35.54.The offshore driller continues a slide that has seen it lose about 23% of its value in 2014.. Trading volume was about 20% above the daily average of around 4.4 million shares.

Sears Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: SHLD) dropped another 3.5% today to post a new 52-week low of $39.32. The shares lost 10% yesterday on news that the company would borrow $400 million from the CEO’s hedge fund. Share volume today was more than double the average daily volume of around 870,000 shares. The stock’s 52-week high is $67.50.

USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU) dropped about 7.6% today to post a new 52-week low of $2.54. Volume is about double the daily average of around 600,000 shares. The uranium processing firm is about to exit bankruptcy just as uranium prices are beginning to rise and a new reactor design has been approved. Investors can gin up a lot of enthusiasm for the shares though. The stock’s 52-week high is $25.49.
