Shortly before the closing bell the DJIA traded up 1.23% for the day, the S&P 500 traded up 0.90%, and the Nasdaq Composite traded up 0.89%.

The DJIA stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close Thursday was The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) which traded up 6.01% at $148.03. The stock’s 52-week range is $116.32 to $148.25, and the high was set today. Trading volume was more than 3-times the daily average of around 4.2 million shares. The company beat estimates when it reported results on Wednesday morning.

McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE: MCD) traded up 5.17% at $93.37. The stock’s 52-week range is $87.62 to $103.78. Trading volume is more than double the daily average of around 6.4 million shares. The company replaced its CEO this morning.

International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) traded up 2.37% at $155.14. The stock’s 52-week range is $149.53 to $199.21, and the low was posted today. Trading volume was about 50% higher than the daily average of around 4.8 million shares. The company announced today that it would fire about 200 employees in Iowa.

The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) traded higher by 2.65% at $107.60. The stock’s 52-week range is $73.96 to $107.74, and the high was set today. Trading volume was about equal to the daily average of around 5.3 million shares. The home improvement store had no specific news today.

Of the Dow 30 stocks 26 are set to close higher today and just 4 are on track to close lower.
