March 3, 2015: Markets opened lower on Tuesday following unexciting action in both Europe and Asia. There were no U.S. data released today and no market-moving earnings out this morning. Shortly before the closing bell the DJIA traded down 0.54% for the day, the S&P 500 traded down 0.52%, and the Nasdaq Composite traded down 0.60%.

The DJIA stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close Tuesday was Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO) which traded down 2.25% at $29.51. The stock’s 52-week range is $21.27 to $30.31. Trading volume was about 10% below the daily average of around 31 million shares. The company had no news today, and we might have seen some profit-taking after the new high set yesterday.

3M Company (NYSE: MMM) traded down 1.35% at $168.19. The stock’s 52-week range is $129.70 to $170.50. Trading volume was about 20% below the daily average of around 2.4 million shares. The company had no specific news today.

UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE: UNH) traded down 1.34% at $112.87. The stock’s 52-week range is $73.61 to $116.58. Trading volume was about half the daily average of around 4.2 million shares. The company had no specific news today.

Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) traded lower by 1.32% at $43.30. The stock’s 52-week range is $37.51 to $50.05. Trading volume was about 30% below the daily average of around 36 million shares. The company had no specific news today.

Of the Dow 30 stocks 24 are set to close lower today and 6 are on track to close higher.
