The 4 Stocks That Dominated the DJIA on Friday

May 8, 2015: Markets opened higher on Friday after a solid report on jobs. The unemployment rate fell another tick to 5.4%. The election results in the U.K. were also a source of early calm for markets as the conservatives won the nearest thing there is in the parliamentary system to a complete victory. Shortly before the closing bell the DJIA traded up 1.50% for the day, the S&P 500 traded up 1.35%, and the Nasdaq Composite traded up 1.15%.

The DJIA stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close Friday was The Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) which traded higher by 2.88% at $145.57. The stock’s 52-week range is $116.32 to $158.83. Trading volume was about 35% above the daily average of around 4.15 million shares. The aircraft maker had no specific news today.

E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company (NYSE: DD) traded up 2.48%% at $75.15ba. The stock’s 52-week range is $63.70 to $80.65. Trading volume is about 20% below the daily average of around 5 million shares. The company’s CEO said the company’s transformation is working and one of its largest shareholders voted for management’s slate of candidates for the board of directors.

The Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) traded up 2.23% at $112.49. The stock’s 52-week range is $75.32 to $117.99. Trading volume is about 15% above the daily average of around 5 million shares. The home improvement retailer had no specific news today.

Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) traded up 2.31% at $47.78. The stock’s 52-week range is $38.97 to $50.05 Trading volume was about 30% below the daily average of around 38 million shares. No news again today for the Redmond giant, but lots of enthusiasm for the stock.

All 30 Dow stocks are on track to close higher today.
