The 52-Week Low Club for Friday

August 21, 2015: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among the 620 equities making new 52-week lows today. Volume was especially high today as it was the monthly settlement date for options.

Intel Corp. (NASDAQ: INTC) dropped about 2.9% on Friday to set a new 52-week low of $26.73 after closing at $27.53 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $37.90. Share volume totaled around 38 million shares, about 20% above the daily average of around 32 million. The company had no specific news today.

Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MU) dropped about 3.4% on Friday to post a new 52-week low at $14.24 after closing at $14.74 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $36.59. Share volume was about 15% above the daily average of around 33 million. The stock suffered a downgrade yesterday and today was not the day to expect a recovery.

Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ) posted a new 52-week low on Friday. Shares dropped about 1.5% to a low of $26.95 from Thursday’s closing price of $27.35. The stock’s 52-week high is $41.10. Volume totaled more than 30 million shares, about two and a half times above the daily average of around 12 million. The company reported earnings Thursday night and shares were on their way to a positive finish shortly before the closing bell.

Alibaba Group Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: BABA) dropped about 2.9% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $68.30 against a 52-week high of $120.00. The stock closed at $70.32 on Thursday night. Volume was nearly double the daily average of around 13 million shares traded. The company had no specific news today.
