Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said she will soon reveal a plan to fight the high cost of prescription drugs, and the biotech heavy index responded negatively. WTI crude oil futures closed up more than 4% today and gold settled down about 0.4%. Shortly before the closing bell the DJIA traded up 0.71% for the day, the S&P 500 traded up 0.41%, and the Nasdaq Composite traded down 0.02%.

The DJIA stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close Monday was Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) which traded higher by 1.55% at $44.15. The stock’s 52-week range is $39.72 to $50.05. Trading volume was about 40% below the daily average of around 35 million. The companyhad no specific news today.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) traded up 1.36% at $114.99. The stock’s 52-week range is $92.00 to $134.54. Trading volume was about 30% below the daily average of around 59 million. The company released its delay operating system upgrade for the Watch, and there are reports that the company is working on an electric car that could be available by 2019.

E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company (NYSE: DD) traded up 1.34% at $48.17. The stock’s 52-week range is $47.37 to $76.59. Trading volume was about 30% below the daily average of around 14.8 million. The company had no specific news today.

International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) traded up 1.27% at $146.35 The stock’s 52-week range is $140.62 to $194.14. Trading volume was about 45% below the daily average of around 6.4 million. The company had no specific news today.
