The 4 Stocks That Boosted the DJIA on Friday

September 25, 2015: Markets opened higher on Friday following comments on Thursday evening from Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen that seemed to signal a Fed Funds rate hike by the end of this year. The final second quarter GDP estimate came in at 3.9%, better than expected. Stocks traded higher until mid-afternoon on Friday  Equities were headed for a mixed close shortly before the closing bell as the DJIA traded up 0.69% for the day, the S&P 500 traded up 0.02%, and the Nasdaq Composite traded down 0.95%.

The DJIA stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close Friday was Nike Inc. (NYSE: CAT) which traded up 8.79% at $124.88. The stock’s 52-week range is $79.27 to $25.95, and the high was posted today. Trading volume was more than four times the daily average of around 3.8 million. The company posted a big earnings beat after markets closed Thursday evening..

Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO) traded higher by 2.54% at $26.06. The stock’s 52-week range is $22.49 to $30.31. Trading volume was about 10% above the daily average of around 27 million. The company had no specific news today.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) traded up 2.27% at $61.59. The stock’s 52-week range is $50.07  to $70.61. Trading volume was about 10% below the daily average of around 16 million. Rising interest rates are good for banks, in case you were wondering.

The Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE: PG) traded up 1.79% at $72.64. The stock’s 52-week range is $65.02 to $93.89. Trading volume was about 30% above the daily average of around 9.9 million. The company had no specific news today.
