The trading band for all three major indexes was quite narrow today though volume was near average. WTI crude for January delivery shed about 0.4% today to settle at $41.75 per barrel. Gold dropped 0.9% to settle at $1,066.80. Equities were headed for a lower close shortly before the closing bell as the DJIA traded down 0.18% for the day, the S&P 500 traded down 0.15%, and the Nasdaq Composite traded down 0.08%.
The DJIA stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close Monday was Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) which traded down XX% at $XX. The stock’s 52-week range is $28.47 to $36.46. Trading volume was more than 3 times higher than the daily average of around 31 million. The drug maker has struck a $155 billion deal to merge with Allergan in a tax-advantaged inversion deal.
The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) traded down XX% at $XX. The stock’s 52-week range is $167.49 to $218.77. Volume was about 40% below the daily average of around 3.4 million shares traded. The company had no specific news today.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) traded down XX% at $XX. The stock’s 52-week range is $92.00 to $134.54. Trading volume was less than half the daily average of about 55.5 million. The company had no specific news today.
