December 2, 2015: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 110 equities making new 52-week lows today.
Kinder Morgan Inc. (NYSE: KMI) dropped about 9% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $20.39 against a 52-week high of $44.71. The stock closed at $22.42 on Tuesday night. Volume was about 3 times the daily average of around 18 million shares traded. The energy infrastructure company will have to as much as $171 million in damages to El Paso Corp. investors related to acquisitions El Paso made in 2011 before it was acquired by Kinder Morgan.
Vale SA (NYSE: VALE) posted a new low on Wednesday. Shares dropped about 2.8% to a low of $3.20 from Tuesday’s closing price of $3.36. The stock’s 52-week high is $9.14. Volume was about equal to the daily average of around 25.8 million shares. The Brazilian mining giant had no specific news today.
ArcelorMittal (NYSE: MT) dropped more than 10% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $4.39 against a high of $12.35. The stock closed at $4.89 on Tuesday night. Volume totaled about double the daily average of around nearly 9 million shares traded. The steel maker’s stock rating was cut from Buy to Neutral this morning by analysts at Citi.
Southwestern Energy Co. (NYSE: SWN) dropped by about 3.4% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low at $8.61 after closing at $8.91 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $31.80. Share volume was about 10% higher than the daily average of around 13 million. Lower oil prices hit producers like Southwestern especially hard.
