Bed, Bath and Beyond Inc. (NASDAQ: BBBY) dropped about 6.5% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low at $47.98 after closing at $51.32 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $79.64. Share volume was about three times higher than the daily average of around 2 million. The company cut sharply its third fiscal quarter guidance after markets closed last night.
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG) slipped 2.5% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $482.23 against a high of $758.61. The stock closed at $494.61 on Tuesday night. Volume was about double the daily average of around 1.2 million shares traded. The low was posted early, and shares have bounced back and now appear headed for a (small) gain for the day. The company’s contaminated food problem continues to hurt investors’ view of the restaurant chain.
Steelcase Inc. (NYSE: SCS) dropped about 3.4% on Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $14.06 against a 52-week high of $20.45. The stock closed at $14.55 on Tuesday night. Volume reached 1.8 million shares, nearly triple the daily average of around 685,000 shares traded. The business furniture maker reported disappointing earnings on Tuesday and continued to pay the price today.
GW Pharmaceuticals plc (NASDAQ: GWPH) posted a new low on Wednesday. Shares dropped about 0.2% to a low of $64.78 from Tuesday’s closing price of $64.96. The stock’s 52-week high is $133.98. Volume was 10% above the daily average of around 340,000 shares. A maker of cannabis-based medicinal products had no specific news today.
