The 52-Week Low Club for Friday

April 8, 2016: Here are four stocks trading with relatively heavy volume among 22 equities making new 52-week lows in Friday’s session. The day’s NYSE winners led losers by about 3-to-1. The ratio of winners to losers was just better than 1-to-1 on the Nasdaq.

Under Armour Inc. (NYSE: UA) posted a new 52-week low on Friday. Shares traded at a low of $42.49, down about 4.3%, after closing at $44.41 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $105.89. Volume totaled about 2.5 times the daily average of around 4 million shares. The company issued new shares on Friday in what was essentially a 2-for-1 stock split to existing shareholders.

aTyr Pharma Inc. (Nasdaq: LIFE) fell by about 5.3% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $3.03 against a high of $28.29. The stock closed at $3.20 on Thursday night. Volume totaled  around 3.5 million shares, about 17 times the daily average. The company had no specific news on Friday.

H&R Block Inc. (NYSE: HRB) dropped about 2.2% on Friday to post a new 52-week low of $24.21 against a 52-week high of $37.53. The stock closed at $24.76 on Thursday night. Volume was about 10% below the stock’s daily average volume of around 3.4 million. The tax preparation company had no specific news on Friday, yet the stock continues to slide.

SeaChange International Inc. (NASDAQ: SEAC) dropped about 33% on Friday to post a new 52-week low at $3.75 after closing at $5.56 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $7.93. Share volume of around 2 million was about 16 times the daily average of about 200,000 shares traded. The company replaced its CEO after posting a net loss for the 2016 fiscal year.
