Express, Tegna Dip into Thursday's 52-Week Low Club

June 1, 2017: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 84 equities making new 52-week lows in Thursday’s session. On both the NYSE, advancers led decliners by more than 4 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by about 11 to 3.

Express Inc. (NYSE: EXPR) dropped about 24% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $5.89 after closing at $7.76 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $16.38. Volume of about 17 million was about 6 times the daily average. The company reported earnings this morning and revised its outlook in the wrong direction.

Tegna Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) dropped 3.4% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $14.70 after closing at $15.21 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $26.65. Volume was more than 15 times the daily average of around 215,000 shares. The company today completed the spin-off of Cars.com (NYSE: CARS). Shares have recovered and are on track to close about 1% higher for the day.

Sibanye Gold Ltd. (NYSE SBGL) dropped about 8.7% Thursday to post a new 52-week  low of $4.62 after closing Wednesday at $5.06. The 52-week high is $20.97. Volume was about double the daily average of about 5.6 million shares. The company had no specific news.

Opko Health Inc. (NASDAQ: OPK) posted a new 52-week low of $5.99 on Thursday, down about 2.4% compared with Wednesday’s closing price of $6.14. The stock’s 52-week high is $12.15. Volume totaled about 6.3 million shares, about 20% higher than the daily average of about 5.1 million. The company had no specific news Thursday.
