Fairmount Santrol, US Silica Dig into Monday's 52-Week Low Club

July 24, 2017: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 69 equities making new 52-week lows in Monday’s session. On the NYSE, decliners led advancers by more than 4 to 3 and on the Nasdaq, advancers led decliners by about 5 to 4.

Fairmount Santrol Holdings Inc. (NYSE: FMSA) dropped nearly 6.4% Monday to post a new 52-week low of $2.60 after closing Friday at $3.11. The 52-week high is $13.12. Volume was nearly 14 million shares traded, about double the daily average of around 7.2 million. The fracking sand provider is one of many taking a hit from last Friday’s downgrade of competitor Smart Sand.

U.S. Silica Holdings Inc. (NYSE: SLCA) dropped about 12.84% Monday to post a new 52-week low of $26.69 after closing at $30.60 on Friday. The stock’s 52-week high is $61.49. Volume of about 9 million was roughly more than double the daily average. The company had no specific news, but another fracking sand supplier that didn’t fare well today.

Hibbett Sports Inc. (NASDAQ: HIBB) posted a new 52-week low of $13.30 on Monday, down about 33% from Friday’s closing price of $19.70. Volume totaled around 6.7 million shares, about 13 times the daily average of around 550,000. The company issued a profit warning this morning and a late e-commerce launch.

The TJX Companies Inc. (NYSE: TJX) dropped about 3.3% Monday to post a new 52-week low of $66.65 after closing at $68.92 on Friday. The 52-week high is $83.64. Volume was about 5.6 million, about 20% higher than the daily average of 4.5 million shares. The company had no specific news Monday.
