Wednesday was a very positive day for the U.S. broad markets in the middle of the busiest earnings week of the season. The S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq all hit record highs over the course of the day. Most of the significant moves that we saw over the course of the day were the result of companies reporting. For the most part, all of the sectors in the S&P 500 were mixed. The health care sector tended to be more negative driven by hospital stocks and major drug manufacturers. Separately the utilities sector was largely positive.

Crude oil was last seen up 1.6% at $48.63.

Gold was up 0.7% at $1,260.90.
