Equifax, New York REIT Dive into Thursday's 52-Week Low Club

September 14, 2017: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 24 equities making new 52-week lows in Thursday’s session. On the NYSE, advancers led decliners by about 15 to 14 and on the Nasdaq decliners led advancers by less than 4 to 3.
New York REIT Inc. (NYSE: NYRT) dropped about 10.3% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $7.25 after closing Wednesday at $8.08. The 52-week high is $10.15. Volume of around 37 million shares traded was more 35 times the daily average. The company said this morning that it is selling a 49% interest in one of its major New York City properties.
Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX) posted a new 52-week low of $89.61 on Thursday, down about 9.5% from Wednesday’s closing price of $98.99. The stock’s 52-week high is $147.02. Volume totaled around 30 million shares, more than 28 times the daily average. The company continues getting hammered following its announcement last week of a data breach involving records for 143 million Americans.
Opko Health Inc. (NASDAQ: OPK) dropped about 9.6% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $5.85 after closing at $6.47 on Wednesday. The 52-week high is $12.15. Volume was around 18 million, more than 4 times the daily average. The company had no specific news.
Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: LXRX) dropped about 14% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $11.80 after closing at $13.76 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $19.62. Volume of around 3.6 million was about 6 times the daily average. The company’s type 1 diabetes drug was reviewed in a medical journal and while the drug was more effective than placebo, but increased the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis.
