AT&T, General Electric Stuck in Wednesday's 52-Week Low Club

October 25, 2017: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 140 equities making new 52-week lows in Wednesday’s session. On the NYSE, decliners led advancers by about 3 to 1 and on the Nasdaq decliners led advancers by more than 2 to 1.
General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) dropped about 2.7% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $21.30 after closing at $22.89 on Tuesday. The 52-week high is $32.38. Volume was around 83 million, well above the daily average of about 48 million. The company had no specific news today, but investors continue to be concerned about the fate of GE’s dividend.
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) dropped about 4.4% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $33.33 after closing at $34.86 on Tuesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $43.03. Volume of around 80 million was more than three times the daily average. The telecom giant reported weak earnings this morning.
Nabors Industries Ltd. (NYSE: NBR) dropped more than 12% Wednesday to post a new 52-week low of $5.65 after closing at $6.43 on Tuesday. The 52-week high is $18.40. Volume was around 44 million, more than five times the daily average of around 8 million. The oilfield services company reported a bigger-than-expected loss after markets closed last night.
Chesapeake Energy Corp. (NYSE: CHK) posted a new 52-week low of $3.45 on Wednesday, down about 5.5% from Tuesday’s closing price of $3.65. The stock’s 52-week high is $8.20. Volume totaled around 25 million shares, about 15% below the daily average. The company had no specific news Wednesday.
