The Southern Company (NYSE: SO) dropped about 0.6% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $46.61 after closing at $46.90 on Wednesday. Volume was around 3.4 million, 25% below the daily average of around 4.6 million. The utility company had no specific news.

Starwood Property Trust Inc. (NYSE: STWD) dropped about 1% Thursday to post a 52-week low of $20.83 after closing at $21.05 on Wednesday. The 52-week high is $23.01. Volume was around 2.8 million, about 75% above the daily average. The company had no specific news.

Colony NorthStar Inc. (NYSE: CLNS) slipped about 0.9% to post a new 52-week low of $10.97 Thursday after closing at $11.11.07 on Wednesday. Volume of about 2.8 million was less than 10% higher than the daily average of around 2.7 million. The company had no specific news.

Sears Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: SHLD) traded down nearly 8% Thursday and posted a new 52-week low of $3.46 after closing Wednesday at $3.76. The 52-week high is $14.32. Volume was about 2.2 million, nearly 50% above the daily average of around 1.5 million shares. The maker of Smith & Wesson firearms had no specific news.
