Campbell Soup, Celgene Stumble into Friday’s 52-Week Low Club

May 18, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 70 equities making new 52-week lows in Friday’s session. On the NYSE advancers led decliners by about 1.12 to 1 and on the Nasdaq, decliners led advancers by about 1.03 to 1.

Campbell Soup Co. (NYSE: CPB) fell by about 13% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $34.09 after closing at $39.22 on Thursday. The 52-week high is $59.14. Volume of about 26.3 million was nearly nine times the daily average of about 3 million. The company reported weak results this morning and the CEO unexpectedly stepped down.

Cemex SAB de CV (NYSE: CX) traded down about 2% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $5.72 after closing Thursday at $5.84. The stock’s 52-week high is $10.37. Volume was about 10% above the daily average of around 9.3 million shares. The company had no specific news.

Coty Inc. (NYSE: COTY) traded down about 2.6% Friday and posted a new 52-week low of $13.81 after closing Thursday at $14.18. The stock’s 52-week high is $21.68. Volume totaled around 6 million, about 20% higher than the daily average of around 5 million. The company had no specific news.

Celgene Corp. (NASDAQ: CELG) dropped about 1.8% Friday to post a new 52-week low of $78.51. Shares closed at $79.98 on Thursday and the stock’s 52-week high is $147.17. Volume of around 5.4 million shares was about 20% below the daily average. The company was one of several named Thursday in an FDA report of drugmakers who may be illegally blocking delaying access to cheaper generic copies of brand-name drugs.
