August 10, 2018: The S&P 500 closed down 0.7% at 2,833.21. The DJIA closed down 0.8% at 25,312.94. Separately, the Nasdaq was down 0.7% at 7,839.11.
Friday was a down day for the broad U.S. markets, with all three major averages posting losses. Crude oil took a small step forward, but ultimately ended the week down. The S&P 500 sectors were almost entirely negative. The most positive sector was energy up 0.4%. The worst performing sectors were materials and financials down 1.5% and 1.1%, respectively.
Crude oil was last seen trading up 1.2% at $67.64.
Gold was last seen trading flat at $1,218.90.
