Monday's Biggest Winners and Losers in the S&P 500

September 10, 2018: The S&P 500 closed up 0.2% at 2,877.28. The DJIA closed down 0.2% at 25,857.07. Separately, the Nasdaq was up 0.3% at 7,924.15.

Monday was a mixed day for the broad U.S. markets. Crude oil took a small step back in the session. The S&P 500 sectors were almost entirely positive. The most positive sectors were real estate and industrials each up 0.7%. The worst performing sectors were health care and financials down 0.2%, and 0.1%, respectively.

Crude oil was last seen trading down 0.3% at $67.52.

Gold was last seen trading flat at $1,200.20.

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss in the S&P 500 ahead of the close was Brown-Forman Corp. (NYSE: BF-B) which fell about 6% to $50.65. The stock’s 52-week range is $50.45 to $53.65. Volume was about 3.2 million.

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close was United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI) which traded up over 5% at $160.06. The stock’s 52-week range is $123.45 to $190.74. Volume was 1.8 million compared to the daily average volume of 1.2 million.
