Kinross Gold, CommScope Flop into Thursday's 52-Week Low Club

November 8, 2018: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 110 equities making new 52-week lows on Thursday. On the NYSE decliners led advancers by about 1.14 to 1, and on the Nasdaq, decliners led advancers by about 1.17 to 1.

Ctrip.com International Inc. (NASDAQ: CTRP) traded down more than 20% Thursday and posted a new 52-week low of $27.50 after closing Wednesday at $34.44. The stock’s 52-week high is $51.91. Volume was about five times the daily average of around 5.3 million. The China-based online travel firm beat expectations this morning when it reported earnings, but a couple of analyst downgrades weighed more heavily.

CommScope Holding Company Inc. (NASDAQ: COMM) traded down about 24% Thursday to set a new 52-week low of $18.52 after closing Wednesday at $24.49. The stock’s 52-week high is $41.60. Volume was about 11 times the daily average of around 2 million. The company announced a $7.4 billion acquisition this morning.

Kinross Gold Corp. (NYSE: KGC) traded down about 6% Thursday to set a new 52-week low of $2.51 after closing at $2.67 on Wednesday. The stock’s 52-week high is $4.78. Volume was nearly double the daily average of around 11.9 million. The gold mining company reported a loss on Wednesday night.

Zayo Group Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ZAYO) dropped about 27.6% Thursday to set a new 52-week low of $22.00 Shares closed at $30.38 on Wednesday and the stock’s 52-week high is $39.66. Volume was more than five times the daily average of around 3 million. The telecom infrastructure company has announced a plan to separate into two firms.
