November 15, 2018: The S&P 500 closed up 1.1% at 2,730.45. The DJIA closed up 0.8% at 25,291.68. Separately, the Nasdaq closed up 1.7% at 7,259.03.
Thursday was a fairly positive day for the broad U.S. markets. Crude oil again bounced back slightly after getting absolutely crushed on Tuesday. The S&P 500 sectors were more or less split down the middle. The most positive sectors were technology and energy up 2.3% and 1.4%, respectively. The worst performing sectors were real estate and utilities down 1.0% and 0.8%, respectively.
Crude oil was last seen trading up 0.5% at $56.51.
Gold was last seen trading up 0.4% at $1,214.30.
The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss in the S&P 500 ahead of the close was PG&E Corp. (NYSE: PCG) which fell by about 30% to $17.73. The stock’s 52-week range is $17.27 to $55.66. Volume was 98 million compared to the daily average volume of 7.7 million.
The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage gain ahead of the close was Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) which traded up about 6% at $113.06. The stock’s 52-week range is $92.81 to $139.91. Volume was 4.7 million compared to the daily average volume of 2.2 million.
