Tuesday's Biggest Winners and Losers in the S&P 500

November 27, 2018: The S&P 500 closed up 0.3% at 2,682.17. The DJIA closed up 0.4% at 24,748.96. Separately, the Nasdaq closed flat at 7,082.70.

Tuesday was a relatively positive day for the broad U.S. markets. Each of the major averages started out the day on a negative note but as the day went on they ended up fairly higher. Crude oil rose slightly in the session. The S&P 500 sectors were mostly positive with a couple notable exceptions. The most positive sectors were health care and consumer staples up 0.9%, and 0.8%, respectively. The worst performing sectors were materials and energy down 1.4% and 0.4%, respectively.

Crude oil was last seen trading up 0.3% at $51.76.

Gold was last seen trading down 0.8% at $1,212.90.

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close was Fossil Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: FOSL) which traded down about 11% at $19.09. The stock’s 52-week range is $6.26 to $32.17. Volume was 2 million compared to the daily average volume of 1.8 million.

The S&P 500 stock posting the largest daily percentage gain in the S&P 500 ahead of the close was PG&E Corp. (NYSE: PCG) which rose by about 7% to $26.92. The stock’s 52-week range is $17.26 to $55.35. Volume was about 17 million compared to the daily average volume of 10.4 million.
