Taiwan Semiconductor, Adient Troop into Friday's 52-Week Low Club

January 4, 2019: Here are four stocks trading with heavy volume among 26 equities trading at new 52-week lows Friday. On the NYSE, advancers led decliners by about 9 to 1 and advancers led decliners on the Nasdaq by about 6.3 to 1.
The three major indexes are recovering (and more) the losses that were posted yesterday. Crude oil traded up about 1.9% on the day to settle at $47.96 a barrel. Crude added 5.8% this week. Gold settled down 0.7% at $1,285.80 for the day, up just 0.2% for the week.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (NYSE: TSM) dropped about 0.4% Friday to set a new 52-week low of $34.21. Shares closed at $34.36 on Thursday and the stock’s 52-week high is $46.57. Volume was about 20% below the daily average of around 9.5million. The company had no specific news. Shares have reversed course and are headed for a daily gain of about 1.4%.
Adient plc (NYSE: ADNT) traded down about 2.7% to post a new 52-week low of $14.88 Friday after closing at $15.29 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $84.59 and volume was about 10% below the daily average of around 2.2 million. The company had no specific news.
Align Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: ALGN) traded down about 3.7% to post a new 52-week low of $177.93 Friday after closing at $184.78 on Thursday. The stock’s 52-week high is $398.88. Volume was about 30% above the daily average of around 1.5 million. The company had no specific news. Shares caught a tailwind in the early trading and are on track to add about 1.3% for the day.
ASE Technology Holding Co. Ltd. (NYSE: ASX) traded down about 1.4% Friday and posted a new 52-week low of $3.50 after closing Thursday at $3.55. The stock’s 52-week high is $8.00. Volume was about double the daily average of around 1 million. The Taiwan-based semiconductor maker had no specific news.
